VISITORS
More usually to be found at its Farnborough base, Bookajet's Citation 680 G-SIRJ (0216) made a first visit this morning. The day's second newcomer was Olympic Air A320 SX-OAH (3316 ex VT-DNV), while the third was Belavia B735 EW-290PA (27629 ex PT-SSB, LY-AZW, N381LF) making its first appearance at Gatwick since being delivered to Minsk on 5/8.
Air Southwest DHC-8 G-WOWA (296), operating as WOW9114 from Southampton to East Midlands, made an emergency landing at Gatwick at around 00.10 this morning with the crew on oxygen after the passengers had reported a burning smell in the cabin. On board the aircraft were the Stoke City FC players, following their Carling cup-tie against Portsmouth FC, which they lost 4-0. The players & staff had to complete their long journey home by coach.
FLEET NEWS
British A/W. It now transpires that B744 G-BNLF (20408) only flew to Cardiff for maintenance on 26/10 & not for storage. I missed the fact that B772 G-YMMB (30303) was ferried over from LHR on 25/10 as BAW9152 & has joined the based fleet. It flew its first service the same day as BAW2043 to Male, Maldives.
Easyjet. Correcting a typo in yesterday's roundup, G-EZJT is, of course, c/n 32415 & not 3245. I was obviously having a bad day as I omitted G-EZJC & G-EZKA from the list of active B737s (the former is due to go to Aerolineas Argentinas in the near future).
Flyglobespan. Clearing up yesterday's small query, B738 G-CEJP (29646) performed an ILS run at Bournemouth yesterday en route from Norwich to Lasham.
Freebird A320 TC-FBY (0283), which reverted to its previous marks of N754US back on 6/10, was ferried from Zurich to Keflavik today. I had expected this to go a Bulgarian operator, but this now looks less likely.
Hello. Adding to Sunday's snippet regarding MD-90 HB-JIC (53576), it is to undergo maintenance at Stockholm/Arlanda & will then be ferried to the USA where it is to join Delta A/L as N919DN.
Virgin Atlantic B744 G-VROM (32339) arrived back at Gatwick from Amsterdam this morning as VIR812P. It has a silver fuselage with a light green tail & red engine cowlings & the registration is taped on. It is due to be reregistered as CP-2603 prior to departing to Santa Cruz, Bolivia at 17.00 on Saturday (31/10) on delivery to AeroSur.
