ROUTE NEWSNone today.MISCELLANEOUS ITEMSFor lovers of old jets comes the very welcome news that the Congo Government's 1959 vintage B707 9Q-CLK (17702) was due to leave Miami, FL today after an overhaul that began on 01/08/10. Line number 64, it is very possibly the oldest active 707, rolled out on 24/07/59 & making its first flight on 08/09/59 before being delivered to Qantas ten days later as VH-EBG & named "City of Hobart. It remained with them until purchased by British Eagle International on 15/03/68 as G-AWDG named "Phoenix". It was to remain with them for just a few months prior to the company going into liquidation & was sold to Laker A/W on 29/01/69. It was based at Gatwick for the next nine years, spending some time operating for Caribbean International A/L & being sub-leased for a short spell to Libyan Arab A/L before it was registered N600JJ to Charlotte Aircraft Corp on 07/11/78 & then ten days later to IASCO. N600JJ then went through a few more changes of owner - to Trafalgar Leasing Inc on 10/10/79, Sheikh Abdallah Baroon in June 1981 & then Skyways Aircraft Leasing on 01/06/87. This latter company reregistered it as N707KS in December 1987, passing it to First City Texas Houston on 16/02/90 & leasing it back the same day. After being replaced by N707KS (20025), it was reregistered N707SK, still with Skyways Aircraft Leasing in April 1992 before passing to New First City Houston Trust in November 1992. It operated for Prince Bandar from August 1997 & was purchased by the Congo Government in early 1999 as 9Q-CLK. It has visited Gatwick in the past as VH-EBG, G-AWDG & N600JJ & was a regular visitor to other London airports as both N707KS & N707SK. Long may she keep flying & here's hoping we see this old airframe in the UK once more.Due tomorrow:Regulars - AWC402/G-ZAPX, BWA902/9Y-LHR, CCA851/B-6079NAX flights - 1ZN/NIB, 5WP/NIA, 12J/NOZ, 14X/DYI, 34G/DYN, 36C/NIC, 51M/DYK, 1304/NGG, 5818/NOWCREDITSAlan Edwards, Malcolm Cooper, Grant Robinson, Mr Anon, Jethro, Skyliner, ATDB, Ray Mears & anybody else that I have forgotten.Happy spotting!
