VISITORS
With precious few visitors due at Gatwick for the Olympics, it is particularly disappointing that two of the best ones, the Somon Air 737 & Mongolian 767 failed to show today. At least three predicted aircraft managed to turn up on their first visits, namely Aeroflot A321 VP-BUM (3267), A320 VQ-BAX (3778) & Swiftair AT72 EC-LHV (416 ex VN-B208, F-WNUH). The day's other newcomer was Ryanair B738 EI-EVC (40286) on the service from Seville.
Having had my whinge about Olympics cancellations at Gatwick, I visited Farnborough Stansted & Luton today & have to say that quite a lot of predicted movements seem to have failed to have turned up at those airports as well.

FLEET NEWS
Air Berlin B738 D-ABMG (37768) let Boeing Field today on delivery to Berlin/Tegel.
Virgin Atlantic. It is reported that A333 G-VINE (1231) will be ferried to Manchester shortly for painting & will then go to Zurich for seating configuration.

ROUTE NEWS 
EasyJet is to base its 50th aircraft at Gatwick from 27/7 as the airline celebrates its first decade based here. The carrier is also to introduce its 97th route from Gatwick (to Bari) & now operates over 305 flights a day from Gatwick.
