VISITORS
Our two newcomers today were both biz jets operated by Luxaviation. Citation 560XLS LX-SEH (5755 ex OE-GEH) arrived this morning from Le Bourget, while CL604 LX-MDA (5616 ex VP-CFD) arrived this afternoon from Moscow/Vnukovo.

FLEET NEWS
Aerosvit B763 UR-VVF (24476) left Kiev today bound for Victorville, CA on return to the lessor.
Virgin Atlantic B744 G-VTOP (28194) was ferried to Gatwick on 12/1 & hasn't moved since. It is reported that it is due to leave the fleet in February, so has presumably been withdrawn from use already.

ROUTE NEWS
Iraqi A/W. There is a strong, recurring rumour that this carrier will begin a reportedly six times weekly service from Baghdad to Gatwick in May. Aircraft types may vary initially, but the long-term intention is that this will be a wide-body route very possibly using A332 YI-AQY (1339). A start date of mid February has also been mentioned, though this may be for a route proving flight.

MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS
My thanks to Tony Doyle for some feedback regarding yesterday's list of British military visitors to Gatwick:
WB530 Devon C2 (04264) RAF 10/07/82 (earlier date)
XZ237 Lynx HAS3 (WA019) RN 24/07/88 603 (addition)
XP883 Scout AH1 (F9484) AAC 11/05/89 (addition)

Thanks also to Colin Wright for alerting me to this interesting piece regarding the work of the Shanwick OCA - well worth watching before you make your next trans-Atlantic flight:
