It's got to be the IL76 transport for me. It looks great on the ground and in the air- its got the classic Russian look to it. Its even better when it starts and you can hear that wonderful noise from the engines. OK- it has to sit and warm them up at the end of the runway because they are a tad unreliable compared to western engines, but just gives you more time to enjoy the noise! Every take-off is an event, and going inside one is like entering a museum of aviation construction methods, but they do the job they were designed for.
What a shame that they are now fitting them with modern engines, these re-engined examples lose a lot of the magic.
