Having studied Geography, Geology and Remote Sensing (Aerial Photography) at University, looking at mother earth from above has always fascinated me, whether it be from an image or whilst flying. I have also been told that I possess an uncanny ability to visualise a route from a map / image having never been there.
I know many of us have more than a passing interest in landmarks and features we fly over, so I thought I could test the water on how interesting this is to others by posting the following images.
The first was taken whilst flying into Luton from Europe and shows the old airfield of Bassingbourn, Cambridgeshire, now a home of one of the Army Training Regiments. As an aside, I have only ever been on the old airfield once, during their Air Show back in May 1978.
This second image is courtsey of the wonderfull Google Earth
Is there anybody out there?
