We have scanned 210,000 pdf pages which completes our 100 year archive available for free on Flightglobal, however, we are missing the issue dated 27 March 1996 which has the World Airlines Directory. It's not even to be found in storage in Upper Heyford.

If you have a copy, we would be very grateful if you would send it to us to scan in and add to our archives. We promise to look after it and send it back swiftly in the same condition.

We really hope you are able to help us. And if you notice other issues are missing from the archive, please let us know by emailing Barbara Cockburn at barbara.cockburn@flightglobal.com

or send to: Barbara Cockburn, Flightglobal Content Editor, Flightglobal, 3rd Floor Quadrant House, The Quadrant, Sutton, Surrey, SM2 5AS.

Hi Orville, I have the one you are looking for, Number 4516 Volume 149, World Airline Directory Part 2:EUROPE & the CIS. And it is in a very good condition. You will get it to scan in.

Hello -

This is a wonderful resource, and I have been using it extensively.

I have discovered that pages 1917-0061.pdf and 1917-0062.pdf are the same. The original page 62 is missing. It appears that page 61 was scanned twice instead of 61 and 62 each being scanned once.

Hi Tom,

Thanks for the eagle eyes. We'll look into this and see how we can get the correct page up. Glad to hear you're enjoying the archive. If you have any questions or suggestions please feel free to let us know.

Cheers,

Will

Perhaps you are already aware of these, but I have discovered that several pages in 1943 were vandalized some unknowable time before they were scanned in. They have sections cut or torn out (may the miscreant enjoy an eternity in Hades).

The affected pages are:

1943-1763.pdf and 1943-1764.pdf:  The top half is missing.

1943-2517.pdf and 1943-2518.pdf:  A "window" has been cut out.

1943-2587.pdf and 1943-2588.pdf:  The top third is missing.

I regret I can't offer intact copies of these for replacement, but now you can put out an appeal to others.

Thanks, Tom! We'll add those pages to our list of pages to be found/re-scanned.

I'm glad I can be of a little help.

I have found several more missing, mutilated, and duplicated pages. Except as indicated, the following refer to the online .pdf images rather than to the original printed page numbers:

1944-0485.pdf and 1944-0486.pdf have the top outer third of the page cut out.

1944-1137.pdf and 1944-1138.pdf are missing the bottom half corner.

1944-1355.pdf and 1944.1356.pdf have the upper half crudely torn off.

1944-2243.pdf and 1944.2244 have the upper one-sixth corner cut off.

1945-1846.pdf and 1945.1847.pdf are missing the bottom third, torn off.

1945-1848.pdf and 1945-1849 have their bottom half torn off.

1946-0585.pdf and 1946-o586.pdf have their top half torn off.

1946-0902.pdf and 1946-0903.pdf are likewise missing their bottom half;

the same for 1946-1811.pdf and 1946-1812.pdf.

1947-0085 and 1947-0086 are missing their bottom one-sixth corner.

1948-0455 and 1948-0456 are missing two printed pages between them (original printed pages 382-383 are missing).

1948-0918.pdf  is a duplicate of  1948-0916.pdf. Conversely, its verso

1948-0919.pdf  is a duplicate of  1948-0917.pdf.

Similarly, 1949-0338.pdf  is a duplicate of  1949-0336.pdf,  and

1949-0339.pdf  is a duplicate of  1949-0337.pdf.

1950-0046 duplicates 1950-0044, along with 1950-0047 duplicating 1950-0045.

1950-1703 duplicates 1950-1704.

1950-0699 and 1950-0700 have a window cut out.

1952-2836 is out of place: this image should be located between 1950-2844 and -2845, to complete the cutaway drawing of the Saunders-Roe Princess. (Perhaps it was part of a fold-out that confused the person scanning all the pages?)

Hi Rapier,

We are missing issues from our archive, so it seems you've found one such gap. Sorry any inconvenience. If you have any missing editions or know someone who does, we would like to scan them and add them to our archive.

Best regards,

Will

More problems uncovered in the file. As before, references are to online images rather than to printed issue and page:

1962-1072 is a duplicate of 1962-1070

1962-1073 is a duplicate of 1962-1071

1962-1076 is a duplicate of 1962-1078

1962-1077 has the clerk's hand in the image! Remove; already replaced by 1962-1079 (without the hand).

1962-1564 is a duplicate of 1962-1562

1962-1565 is a duplicate of 1962-1563

1962-2483 is a duplicate of 1962-2481

1962-2484 is a duplicate of 1962-2482

1965-1960 is page 26 of the 24 June 1965 issue, However,

1965-1961 is page 465 of the 1 April 1965 issue. Then,

1965-2960 is page 40 of teh 17 June 1965, but is then followed immediately by

1965-2961, which is page 988 of the 2 December 1965 issue.

1965-2997 and -2998 have the clerk's hands prominent in them. They are already re-shot, sans hands, as 1965-2999 and -3000.

1966 seems to end on 9 June?? (cf. 1966-1731)

1969-0243 and -0244 are very badly cropped; much text is lost

1969-0353 and -054 are excessively cropped

1969-1039 is badly miscropped

1969-0375 and -0376 are badly cropped

1969-1258 and -1259 are atrociously cropped

1969-1418 and -1419 are badly cropped

1969-1498 and -1499 have large chunks missing from their edges

1969-2140 and -2141: impossible to describe the problem here, but trust me, they need replacing

1969: ends with 26 June issue at 1969-1167, then follows the January-June index, then 1969 January-June starts all over again with January 2 at 1969-1180 and ends in June with 1969-2349. In other words, January-June 1969 is totally duplicated except for the index.

In the archive the tail end of the scans have the pages very much out of order for 1910. As you go through the thumbnails, they give pages as follows (in the order displayed):

Page 1080 - file 1910 - 1071.html

Page 1075 - file 1910 - 1076.html
Page 1074 - file 1910 - 1077.html
Page 1073 - file 1910 - 1078.html
