An extra 31 seasonal flights will run in September and October from Honolulu to Sydney, Brisbane and Auckland.During September and October – peak travel season for Australians and New Zealanders – Hawaiian Airlines is adding 8,800 seats to three Oceania routes. Hawaiian’s Sydney-Honolulu service will ramp up from daily to 10 flights per week from September 11 to October 19, adding 17 extra flights to the schedule. On Brisbane to Honolulu, frequency will rise from three up to five flights per week from September 13 to October 14, adding 10 flights. For Hawaiian’s Auckland to Honolulu service, due to start on March 13, flights are stepping up from three to four flights per week from September 19 to October 11, adding four flights. Peter Ingram, Hawaiian’s executive vice president and chief commercial officer, said demand rises over this period as schools are out and families are on holiday. "These extra flights also offer travellers in Hawaii and North America more options for visiting Australia and New Zealand at a beautiful time of year,” he said. Glenn Wedlock, general manager aeronautical commercial at Auckland Airport, said the announcement reflected New Zealand’s appeal to tourists from the US mainland. “The fact that the demand for this service has warranted additional flights before it has even started verifies that there is a strong appetite out there for this type of service,” he said. “It also highlights the capability of Hawaiian Airlines at selling New Zealand as a tourist destination to its audience of over 2.8 million frequent flyers.” Hawaiian Airlines recently opened up a route to Sendai in Japan.Source: routesnews
