Hi rapier,

You need to press the edit profile button at the top of the screen (next to your your login name/sign out etc) and then press the avatar button. From there you should be able to browse to your chosen picture and then once that is done, you need to press save at the bottom of the screen. Once pressed,the avatar should update.

 How big is the image you are attempting to upload as an Avatar?

 Yeah the size should be fine, try and reduce it though and then go through the process again. when you press save, there should be a green bar which says that the photo will appear shortly. It may then take a minute or two to work.
