Fortunately, the aircraft went down in rebel territory.  It would be a much different story if it hadn't.

From looking at the crash site photo, it looks like it landed flat

I doubt if we will ever know just how much this will cost  due to the lack of transparency in government accounts but figures I have heard quoted are a figure of  $1.6 million  per aircraft sortie ( counting indirect costs)  and Tomahawk  (not at replacement cost)  $1.3 million.

It was reported today that the U.S. may add more firepower with the use of AC-130 gunships, helicopters (no type specified), and UAV's.  The use of helicopters, (and I assume AH-64 gunships) would bring guys a little closer to the battle.  Not so sure AH-64's will be part of this conflict but could definitley see AC-130's and UAV's.
