Hi,

Just back from an overnight trip to Budapest, primarily to fill a couple of gaps in my MALEV fleet and catch the various stored pieces around the field and in the museum, but also to try out a couple of new airlines, namely SkyEurope and Wizzair.

So, on Wednesday 26th I dropped my car off at Charleroi (so it was "in position" for my return the following evening), hopped on the bus to Brussels-Midi, caught the airport "express" train, and by 13:00 was checking in for my SkyEurope flight to Budapest.

HA-LKM was to be used on my flight to Budapest, and it duely departed on time, with only 75 pax on board. This meant plenty room to relax and snooze after the night shift! 1hr and 40 mins later we were landing on 13R, and soon I was up in the restaurant with a beer, logging everything landing on 13R. I stayed here until 19:00 and during this time, nothing landed on 13L, although traffic from T2 did depart on this runway. Some MALEV could be read off taxiing for 13L, but smaller things like SF34s and S2000s were hidden a bit by the trees. Anyway, no problems at all during my 2 and a bit hours in the restaurant, with the following non-MALEV logged:-

I had booked a night at the Airport Hotel Stacio and 10 mins after calling for the shuttle, the driver was there, and 5mins later I was dumping my bag in the room and running a bath! The hotel is very new, and has super large rooms and an excellent restaurant, with good food, large portions and reasonable prices. All the staff were very friendly and spook excellent English. Breakfast was included in the rate of €75 for a single, and given the quality and convenience, I'd certainly recommend it.
