    Log Far East Trip Part I, LHR/DOH/CAN/SZX/KUL

    Log Far East Trip 01-14/11 Part I;

    Took advantage of some cheap tickets with Qatar Airways and booked a LHR-CAN/HKG-LHR for £430

    Heathrow 01/11;

    Met up at the visitors centre at 10 with Messrs Blagg, Hopkins, Huggins, Ayres and Bryan
    for our 1415 Qatar departure to Doha, logged;

    Flew to Doha on Qatar A340/600 A7-AGC QR 012 (34 ins leg room in economy on QR and a superb avod system)

    Doha 02/11;

    Plenty of stuff here but being dark meant couldn't get most of it. No piers at the terminal, all pax bussed
    in, after transit to departures, views afforded in the far corner by a Costa Coffee shack.

    Saw 2 Jet AW 737, Indian Exp 737 and Indian AL 320 but couldn't get any of them, any offers???

    Flew to Guangzhou on Qatar A330/200 A7-ACK QR 874

    Guangzhou 02/11;

    Got through immigration pretty quick and transferred to the China Southern Pearl hotel for 1 night.
    Prices pretty good except we arrived during the Canton fair and pirces increased for the duration of the fair,
    costing us around £90 for a twin, normally around £50-60 i think, includes buffet breakfast. Floors 3-6 and
    odd numbered rooms between 09 and 29 should give good views. We had 321 and 515. 3rd floor okay but occasionally
    tree's got in the way so higher floors better-we used 515 mostly.

    so very pleased to see it!)

    Got a taxi to Shenzhen airport, took about 1.15 hrs and cost about £100 but between 5 was ok. The public bus to Shenzhen city was about £8 each but still quite away from the airport. Stayed at the airports Sunway Hotel for one night,
    opposite the termianl and very reasonably priced, about £45 for a twin with buffet breakfast. Logged B-5083 Hainan 737 and B-2982 China Xinhua B737 from our rooms before retiring.

    Shenzhen 04/11;

    After a good brekkie set about spotting from our room for the day, we had rooms on the 7th floor facing the airport
    but soon discovered that it wasn't easy reading stuff off. Aircraft were landing/taking off left to right.
    Landings couldn't be read at all, some take offs already to high so after a little exploration ended up on the hotel roof
    which gave us a bit more chance to get stuff. Went back downstairs to see the hotel management and they were fine with us being there. Again booked a late checkout, half the room rate.

    Flew down to Kuala Lumpur on AirAsia A320 9M-AFJ. International check in opened exactly 2 hours before the flight
    and the international departure lounge is quite small as well, being dark couldn't see a lot but some arriving aircraft
    taxied past and were read off. There were some biz jets seen when taxiing out but couldn't get though, looked like
    Ciation Excel's and maybe a H125.

    Arrival into KUL was just after 1 am and transferred to the excellent Pan Pacific hotel for 1 night (what was left of it- £90 for a twin). Hotel is opposite the main terminal (airasia now use the new budget terminal, quite a way from the main terminal, plently of buses  go between the 2 except when we arrived they had stopped so had to get a taxi)

    logged a few AirAsia's but main thing of note was;

    RP-C3247 A320 Cebu Pacific

    Kuala Lumpur 05/11;

    spent the day on the excellent viewing area in the main terminal, should be able to get most aircraft, cargo maybe difficult if it doesn't move all day though;
