What a story this is, a American fighter plane landing 65 years after it took off from the US and made a slight detour to Greenland:

It was buried under 300 ft of ice apparently. That's one way of preserving it i suppose...

Does anyone know of 'Glacier Girls' progress in flying to the UK?. Last I read was that it was delayed and she was still in Canada awaiting a weather window.

I have mixed feelings of seeing it again. The last P-38 I saw at Flying Leg Ends was flown by the great and late Hoof Proudfoot......and we all know what happened that year :-(

Is there anybody out there?

Live tracking for Glacier Girl's journey can be found here, unfortunately the Mustang she's travelling with ('Miss Velma') has had a leaking coolant pump so they're staying in Goose Bay until repairs can be made.

Unhappy to report that Glacier Girl will not be attending Duxford Flying Legends. http://warbirdinformationexchange.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=14102. A valiant attempt by the people involved. Hope everything works out and that she'll be up and running for the Oshkosh event.

Some happy news on the Mustang 'Miss Velma'.

It arrived at Duxford yesterday ready for this weekends Flying Legends.
