Abu Dhabi's Maximus Air Cargo has taken delivery of the first of three ex-Japan Airlines Airbus A300-600s, which have been modified as freighters at EADS' conversion centre, Elbe Flugzeugwerke, in Dresden.
Built in 2002, the Pratt & Whitney PW4158-powered aircraft (MSN 837) is the youngest ever A300 passenger jet to have been converted to a freighter, according to EFW. It has logged 16,678 flight hours and 12,508 cycles.
The other two aircraft, MSN 797 and 836, were manufactured in 2000 and 2002, respectively, and are to be delivered in September.
MSN 797 has accumulated 22,636 flight hours and 16,442 cycles, while MSN 836 has 16,966 flight hours and 12,645 cycles.
Maximus said in January that it had paid AED350 million ($95.3 million) for the three aircraft, including conversion.
