Memories of the historic Berlin Tempelhof airport

Today marks the final closure of the historic Tempelhof airport in Berlin, but i would be interested to know if anybody had any experiences of flying through the terminal or even knew of anybody involved in the Berlin Airlift. It seems a shame that this icon of history has had to have its final goodbye!

Does anybody know what's happening to the building when it closes? I imagine it would be a good place to build a museum or some kind of recognisable statue

For what it's worth, the Berlin Airlift was one of my nominations in the 100 greatest and it came in at number 28.
