The first demonstration of air travel must, for me, be the greatest moment in aviation history. So, according to the records available, the greatest moment must be 4 June 1783, when the Montgolfier brothers launched their first balloon. Everything else is just tinkering when placed alongside this fist, reduced to practice, flight.
