Hi folks,

It's the annual United Nations General Assembly
gathering in New York City this week. The event
produces an interesting selection of airliners,
bringing dignataries to the event, not usually seen
in this part of the world!

A stunner of a day with clear skies, bright  sunshine,
temps into the 80F range!

As I left the office at 9am, got a call from Garry
that the Vietnamese 777 was overhead Rhode Island,
but  it's track was too far south for me to see it! Guess
I'll have to wait!

First stop was Stewart/Newburgh NY (SWF).

* new

Although the ANG ramp was filled with C130s and C5s, I couldnt get to pole them off. No sooner had I stopped on the perimeter road (Rte 17) a local police officer was pointing at the me to move on.. Air Force One was parked on the ramp too, which I believe was 92-9000.

received a text telling me the Viet triple had just
taken off from JFK enroute for parking at SWF!
(Thanks  Phil!). I'd also been chatting to a chap who had
friends in Luton. He suggested a place closer to the
runway which might be suitable for photos! Thanks
John for that!

Delighted with the appearance of VN-A149 B777

Word of warning - the spot at the top of the JetBlue

know if its for maintenance work, or to discourage
spotters.. Just be warned! The above was logged
using AirTrain and keeping moving ;-)

All the best

The UN General Assembly is an annual event, usually in September, when member nations meet for the grand opening in New York City.. This is the third I have chased airliners, related to the visit. My first trip greeted me with Algerian Gulfstreams and IL76s, a Thai MD11 and a host of other unique airliners.

This year was no exception, although I still find it funny I managed to paint the Venezuelian 737 (0207) but copped a Miami Air pig!

The aircraft usually fly into one of the NYC area airports, obviously JFK is the primary, but EWR and TEB took traffic.

After the dignataries are unloaded, the aircraft then reposition to Stewart (SWF) an airbase/civil facility 60 miles north of New York City, Westover/Chicopee (CEF) north east of Springfield Massachusetts, again an ANG base, with civil facilities, or Andrews (ADW) in Washington DC. The bizjets that land at TEB (Teterboro NJ), usually stay at TEB as there is plenty of room.

Of the above, SWF probably has the better viewing of the aircraft. The picture of the VN- B777, 0207 and A6- pig were taken at SWF. Since Air Force One was parked at SWF too, there were a few more police officers around so I didnt linger too long ;-). Within JFK, you are not allowed to take photos.. (Although if you were in the terminal seeing Mum and Dad off on a flight, noone will touch you if you take a picture as they walk thru the security gates!).

I'll probably be heading down to NYC on Sunday, via Westover - where they parked EP-IAD 747SP (which I need) and a ZS- 737 with the Polish AF Tu154. Then onto SWF - a Phillipines A340 joined the crowd this week, down to TEB and EWR, then back via JFK! Obviously logs will follow!

Glad you liked the logs - Its a lot of fun getting them!

Geoff
