There are preliminary indications that a new carrier is intending to open domestic services to London City Airport, using Bombardier Q400 turboprops.
http://www.excelsisairways.com/The carrier identifies itself as Excelsis Airways and gives little further information except an Internet site statement saying that it plans to operate between London City and Durham Tees Valley Airport in the northern UK.Excelsis claims it is recruiting personnel and will launch services "later this year", adding that it will be "providing a daily service" on the route - although it confusingly later states that the link will be "three times a day"."As it continues to grow, Excelsis will be announcing other regional destinations around the UK," it says. "Over the next few years the airlinewill create several hundred jobs."It also says it will become the first airline to be based in the region since Newcastle's Northeast Airlines, which was absorbed into British Airways in the early 1970s.No-one could be reached at Excelsis to clarify aspects such as funding and ownership, or to give further information.Excelsis gives a business address in Darlington, near to Tees Valley Airport, and the UK's companies register contains an entry for Excelsis Aviation at the same location.
