Anyone noticed that the new aircraft don't have ashtrays fitted?
That mod in itself must chop a couple of dollars/pounds/euros off ticket prices, when you consider what the manufacturers would charge for an "aviation approved" ashtray!
So what happens when airlines, such as Smintair (the German new start) kick off? Sure the old aircraft had them, and they were handy for disposing of your chewing gum, just before landing in Singapore - but the new aircraft don't, unless they're an "optiona extra" (like air vents have become).
But at what cost, financially, and convenience-wise, to the airline companies, who inevitably will just pass it on to their consumers anyway?
