    NTSB investigates errant Northwest A320.

The NTSB is investigating what happened to a Northwest Airlines A320 NO372 when the pilots lost radio contact for 1h and 16min on a flight from San Diego to Minneapolis last night. The Aircraft had 147 passengers on board, and as it overflew the airport it was at its cruise altitude of 37,000ft. The pilots regained contact with Minneapolis air traffic control and returned to the airport.

As for this other recent incident too  :

Normal 0 21 Delta pilots land on taxi-way in Atlanta

<< Normal 0 21 Nearly 200 passengers and crew narrowly escaped catastrophe when their Delta airlines Boeing landed on a taxi-way instead of the runway at Atlanta airport, the Federal Aviation Agency has disclosed.

The FAA is investigating why Delta Flight 60 from Rio de Janeiro to Atlanta's Hartsfield international airport put down on the taxi-way parallel to the runway an hour before sunrise on Monday morning.>>

..........I guess  the main contributing factor  is Pilot's  fatigue or overtiredness.

It is necessary to know  : :  Normal or abnormal  night rest before their Flight  ?

Reported by Sky News. The pilots of the Northwest A320 were distracted by an argument they were having and overshot their destination by about 150miles. Military Fighters had been put on standby, as the plane May have been hijacked. The correct numbering of the aircraft is in my corrected post, full story Sky News. flyer1
