Ottawa International Airport is preparing to add seven new gates as part of a $500 million expansion plan, according to reports.The airport authority is in the early planning stages of the expansion, according to airport CEO, Mark Laroche. He told the Ottawa Business Journal that the expansion would cost $500 million. There is no firm timeline for the expansion project, which would need to be approved by the airport authority’s board of directors. The airport handled 4.69 million travellers in 2012, an increase of 1.3%. The last expansion of the airport’s terminal was completed in December 2008.
