That would take them upto 9800 feet which is ok for those long haul flights

Birmingham is criminally under-used as it is, so whoever thought up the idea of building a second runway in the first place was nuts.  There just aren't the services to sustain it.  You can sit for hours at BHX without seeing a single aircraft movement......

Even though people seem to think that its location is ideal for a major international airport, what with it being right in the centre of the country, most seem to forget that Heathrow is only an hour away to the south and Manchester an hour to the north, both of which have far better facilities and connection opportunities.

I was generalising.  I guess it's more like 75 minutes.  And - yes - I do drive fast.
