Glasgow Prestwick Airport has been put up for sale by New Zealand-based owners Infratil, the infrastructure investment group.
The airport, Scotland's fourth busiest has been put on the block just five months after BAA announced its decision to sell Glasgow International Airport following a ruling by the UK's Competition Commission.
Prestwick Airport in Ayrshire, 30 miles southwest of Glasgow, has seen falling passenger numbers over the past two years to 1.4 million.
Prestwick has suffered recently as low cost carrier Ryanair has transferred flights to Edinburgh.
Prestwick chief executive Iain Cochrane quoted in The Scotsman newspaper said "Prestwick is a great airport with a great team and a great future.
"I believe this is an excellent opportunity for us to attract new investment to provide stimulus for future growth.
"It's business as usual as the busy summer season approaches and we're totally focused on looking after our customers", he said.
