A nonstop link from Doha to Chicago will now start on a reduced schedule as Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner troubles drag on.

Instead of the planned daily flight, Qatar Airways will now fly the route three times a week when it opens its fourth US gateway on April 10.

Qatar Airways’ flights to Chicago have been hit as Boeing’s 787 Dreamliners remain grounded over a lithium-ion battery safety issue, said the carrier.

But a daily service to Chicago is due to start from June 15, said the carrier.

Meanwhile, Qatar Airways' launch of scheduled flights between Doha and Chengdu, due on March 19, has been postponed by the 787 fiasco.

Qatar Airways said passengers on affected flights are being contacted and rebooked on alternative flights and routings.
