The article mentions an order for four CRJ's by Jetair Flug. These planes are actually Challenger 850's according to Jetair Flug's website (www.imperial-jet.com). Bombardier had no CRJ sales for their fourth quarter.

Thanks for spotting that! Our database groups Challenger 850 under CRJ so that's why this order from Jetair Flug has been pulled from the database for January.

The Fleet Watch analysis is done on aircraft type basis and not on the user-end application. For example, Boeing 737 figures might include BBJs. The Bombardier CRJ type is classified as a regional jet and includes Challenger 850, 870 and 890.

Just how deep the current recession is hitting aircraft manufacturers can be seen from Boeing's order books for this year.

In the week ending March 3 the manufacturer booked just three commercial aircraft orders.

Year to date the company has taken 22 orders compared to 190 for the same period in 2008.

    13 737s Ryanair

    5 737s Southwest

    1 737 Alaska Airlines

    1 777-300ER Air New Zealand

    2 777-300ERs Undisclosed
