Cessna has been given a very soft ride on this program, but by any usual standards it has been such an embarrassment that I am surprised the press has not lambasted them in a similar way to Boeing's 787 stories. Here is the premier GA manufacturer of the last 60 years taking 3 years to bring out and LSA and managing to crash two prototypes as well, leaving them for a while with no flying hardware! Well inside that time period, manufacturers all over the world have introduced safe affordable flying without running short of prototypes. Spinning is not such a dark art that information is unavailable (although credit to Cessna for ensuring a safe spin). It is a pity that modern pilots licenses do not require recovery from a full spin and maybe that is why some of the understanding has been lost.
