Very interesting position that O'Leary is taking here, he sees the growth in pilot numbers since the XL collapse (and i assume with more to follow) and he is using it as leverage to get his own pilots to take unpaid breaks. Talk about valuing your staff!Indifferent

Well now, this does seem a somewhat "smelly" kettle-of-fish; to be sure - to be sure! If me name is not O' dakota 67, I wouldn't have believed that one of my DNA lineage could be seeming so hard-hearted as to be telling his loyal aviators that if they don't like the Master's decisions, well then, they can just booger-off now. As Mr. Learmont indicates; it is a short-sighted cavalier attitude which hardly bodes well for the future of industrial relations between the cockpit (do we still use that term?) aircrew  and the CEO and his non-flying minions. Surely there has to be a better way? What I am unclear about is do the pilots have an employment contract? Or is it all through the Irish ALPA?
