     one contributing factor might be the unusual long taxi distance. Pilots might feel invited to delay the flap extension until close to the T/O-runway.

    I had a similar experience at the MAD-airport. After engine start we decided to keep the flaps retracted because of the expected long taxi time. Later we felt surprised and uncomfortable when we realized the flaps not in the proper position for T/O. I guess we had left the normal procedure pattern...
