The C-series faces three challenges in the market.
First, will it be a sufficiently cost-effective improvement over the slightly smaller Embraer E190/E195,
which will be very well established by the C Series service entry date?
Second, will the fuel economy be sufficient to offset weight and maintenance issues surrounding the GTF?
Third, will it face a bigger challenge from an all-composite A318 replacement as part of the A320 series replacement?
No leasing company will want to take on these risks speculatively, so Bombardier need large airlines willing to do so.
