    RIAT 2008

Yes I know it's only January, but I thought we should start a thread around RIAT 2008...starting of with the first confirmed participants

2 x Alpha Jets of the Asas de Portugal

He who laughs last obviously has'nt heard the bad news.

I was looking at Flightline UK the other day and I find that it is pretty accurate for airshows, they have a few others listed already:

    Military:

Lockheed Martin F-22A Raptor (USAF Demo Team)

Los Halcones - Walter Extra 300L x5 (Chilean Air Force)

Patrouille Suisse - Northrop F-5E Tiger II x6 (Swiss Air Force)

Avro Vulcan B2 (Vulcan to the Sky)

    Civilian:

    Purple Violet (Ali Ozturk)

Douglas DC-3 Dakota (Air Atlantique Classic Flight)

Hopefully the Swedish will bring the Gripen, along with their marketing people, who are attending.

The French Air Force apparently have the Mirage 2000 display returning this year, venues unknown at this point, but the UK has been mentioned. Again hopefully this will turn up at RIAT.

Not much coming through as yet. Just checked some RAF sites, here's their contribution so far:-

Hawk and Typhoon (superb last year) have solo displays.

RAF Regiment's Falling Rocks Parachute Team

    RAF Role Demo

Its on a Saturday and Sunday in July and its bound to rain at least one day Angel

Be interesting to see whats shared with Farnborough, the F22 has already been mentioned. Nice if a factory Mig rather than the Klimov demo was to show but please send the Klimov girls anyway! Suspect the KC767 or KC330 will make an appearance too?

Unfortunately though this year you can only buy a ticket for either day, so you cant decide at the last minute which day you want to go.(If buying the advanced tickets).

It would be good if the Russians sent in a Bear!

July is a busy month for Airshows with Farnborough, Fairford and Waddington all on! Shame that Farnborough moved from September as it was always something to look forward to later on in the year.

Lets hope that the new Lady Commander at Mildenhall reinstates their airshow in the coming years as she says she intends to! I used to like going to it in May.

    Hi

This is my first message on this forum, to be honest I'm not used to forums at all.

With RIAT 2008 so close now, I just hope we get some good weather for what is a great event and one that we are lucky to have in our own "back yard"

are there any subscribers who work the met office?

The F-22's arrived today heralding the beginning of RIAT 2008. Here's a photo in the RIAT 2008 gallery of one of the 3 taxiing following landing. Hope everyone who is going to the show will have a good time.

Baron Inchape and myself will be there from tomorrow (in the pouring rain) till Monday.
