Ryanair will launch six new routes – and a total of 14 weekly flights – from Dortmund for Summer 2013.The low-cost carrier will fly to Alghero, Barcelona Girona, Faro, Malaga, Porto and Palma from March next year.
Airberlin has six weekly flights to Palma from Dortmund six times a week, while Germanwings flies four times a week. No carriers serve the other five routes. The new flights will deliver more than 200,000 passengers a year, the airline said. Ryanair will fly to Malaga and Palma three times a week and Alghero, Faro, Porto and Barcelona Girona, twice weekly. Ryanair’s Michael Cawley said: “Ryanair is delighted to announce six new routes from Dortmund, our 11th German airport, beginning in March 2013.” Markus Bunk, Dortmund Airport CEO, added: “This is a great vote of confidence in the potential of both the airport and our region from Europe’s largest airline. “Today’s announcement will help create much needed jobs and tourism and shows that Ryanair shares our confidence in the tremendous opportunity for strong market growth here at Dortmund Airport.”Source; Routenews
