SkyWork Airlines of Switzerland added a second 70-seat Bombardier aircraft Q400 to its fleet this week.  The aircraft, newly registered HB-JIK, acquired on lease via the UK’s SkyWorld Aviation, made its debut on the Bern to Palma Mallorca route on Monday 11th July.  A third Q400 will follow in September, when the airline prepares to take its popular London City to Bern service to double daily.

Furthermore, SkyWork bookings will soon be fully accessible on the GDS systems, Amadeus and Galileo following migration to its new reservation system in September.

Further enhancements to the departure and arrival times become effective from 30th October.

“London City-Bern has become a star performer in our route network,” said Tomislav Lang, SkyWork Airlines’ CEO, adding “we are very much looking forward to building on that success by offering morning and evening departures, affording the business traveller a full day in the cities of Bern and London.  And we are looking ahead to the winter and hope to announce some interesting initiatives just ahead of the ski season. From your arrival at Bern’s Belp Airport, you can be skiing on the slopes of the Swiss Alps in just over an hour.

Flying direct to Bern will also save passengers up to two hours on their journey when travelling via other Swiss gateways. Some 5,000 passengers have flown with SkyWork on a mixture of Q400 and smaller 30-seat Dornier 328 aircraft since the LCY-BRN route commenced at the end of March 2011.  Passengers are responding positively to the personal service of SkyWork’s smaller cabin aircraft and the offer of Ipads for inflight entertainment are proving extremely popular.

In addition to its enhanced London schedule, seven additional cities from Bern are being added in the coming winter timetable, boosting the number of destinations served by SkyWork to 12.   Rome, Vienna and Milan come on line on 5 September, followed by Madrid, Belgrade, Budapest and Amsterdam in October.
