This is the last known photo of avid (perhaps rabid) space photographer Chestley K. Weldon. Mr. Weldon appears as a small lump of charcoal at the base of the flame plume of a Saturn first stage.
Mr. Weldon's famous last words :
"Hello boys, I am as snug as a bug in a rug ......"
The image shows NASA's Apollo 14 Saturn V rocket lifting off from Cape Kennedy on 31 January 1971
