    The date: May 20, 1991 (17.28.39 Moscow time)

    The Soyuz TM 12 spaceship in its final approach to the Soviet space station Mir.

    The crew: Anatoli Artsebarsky, Sergey Krikalev and Helen Sharman, the first Briton in space and the first woman aboard Mir. 

    She returned on May 26 in TM 11 with cosmonauts Afanasyev and Manarov.

    This picture shows mission control at 1731h Moscow time on 20 May 1991 during the docking of Soyuz TM-12, with its Anglo-Soviet crew of commander Anatoly Artsebarsky, flight engineer Sergei Krikalev and cosmonaut-researcher Helen Sharman, to the Mir space station.
