Like a Rolf Harris art show we are asking whether you can guess what it is yet, with our weekly unique picture from the Flight International spaceflight archive. Guess the make of the craft in the picture design, or add an amusing caption, and find yourself to be the king(or queen) of all thing space.
I thought it looked like something from the film Tron, but that didn't go down to well in the office. Happy guessing!
AirSpace - more than just hot air
It is the P1 prototype BabelFish
I can understand the confusion shown by Flight in thinking it was some kind of spacecraft which, I guess, it could actually could be argued, it is aswell.
Further plans for this design have apparently been on display in a distant Galaxy for eons
Is there anybody out there?

Ah a HitchHikers guide to the galaxy reference, maybe we can find the craft at the cafe at the end of the universe
It's the prototype for Stingray.
Stingraaaay... Stingray!! Der-der-der-der-der-dern!!
My wings are like a shield of steel.
It must be traditional to name imaginary and failed prototype spacecraft 'Hermes'. However, the real joke is, it's supposed to be a manned european space vehicle... Ha ha ha ha ha ha.
And the answer is:
The 14 August spaceflight picture shows the internal structure, in false colours, of the European Space Agency's Hermes spaceplane that was developed from the mid-1980s to the early 1990s. It was to be launched on a man-rated variant of the Astrium Ariane 5 rocket.
I also liked the mention of the Stingray
Well done angz, you take the lead so get ready for the next one that is coming tommorow so get ready...
