The jet, believed to be a Sudan Airways A310 which had flown from the Jordanian capital, Amman, landed in the Sudanese capital amid powerful thunderstorms which had reduced visibility in the area.

Witnesses at the scene said the plane veered off a runway as it landed, and then burst into flames. Up to 100 feared dead. Sudanese television said the Airbus, was carrying 203 passengers and 14 crew.

Sudan Airways have had their Air Operators Certificate withdrawn, but apparently it's nothing to do with the crash.
