Here is a crazy photo from New Zealand

This was taken from www.stuff.co.nz. Apparently they couldn't get the landing gear down. You're telling me!!!

If you actually watch the video footage that was taken of the incident, the landing was textbook - couldn't fault the crew at all. The aircraft was straight and level all the way down; contact with the ground was barely noticable.

The blades did exactly what they were supposed to do in the event of ground contact - shear off.

I guess we're lucky that the photographer caught it at just the right moment. If you go looking for pictures of the aftermath, damage to the fuselage doesn't appear to be that bad. There are two main contact marks on the fuselage where pieces of the starboard prop hit it, the undercarriage doors were ripped open and will need replacing, there is some under-wing damage (understandably), but I can't see a reason why this 1900 would be unrepairable. Granted it might take a few weeks to get it sorted, but expect to see ZK-EAK flying again pretty soon.

Vidi, Vici, Veni.  I saw, I conquered, I came.

Just seen another example of this on the site:

http://www.flightglobal.com/articles/2007/06/26/215153/picture-eagle-erj-touches-down-with-landing-gear-up.html

looks a bit less exciting (except for the sparks on the back) but this time it is a American Eagle Embraer ERJ-135

...and the ERJ-135 went around - a bit tricky trying to do that in a 1900 after the props have boken off
