Turkish Airlines has taken delivery of its new series of wide-fuselage aircraft, which were ordered previously.

A-330-300 passenger-type and A-330-200 freighter aircraft ordered from Airbus are about to be delivered. In addition, Turkish Airlines also received its first 777-300 ER aircraft from Boeing, which is the first to features the carrier’s new “Comfort Class” cabin.

Said Hamdi Topcu, Chairman of Turkish Airlines, “The addition of new Boeing 777-300ER’s to our fleet is in line with our business expansion plans and our efforts to offer our customers a higher standard in quality and comfort.”

Turkish Airlines General Manager, Asst. Prof. Dr. Temel Kotil, stated that the aircraft with a bigger fuselage will undertake significant missions and provide benefits for long distance flights, adding that the year 2011 will be a very active one globally.

The new wide-fuselage aircraft were designed by the world-famous design company Priestmangoode. Priestmangoode preserved Turkish Airlines’ national identity while producing a modern European interior for the cabin. For the cabin interiors, Priestmangoode showcased the rich and colorful heritage of Turkish culture, especially Istanbul – through the use of flamboyant fabrics and pattern designs and ceramic tiles.

Turkish Airlines flies between Istanbul and Singapore five times a week with the A330-300 operated on this route. Turkish Airlines will operate a sixth weekly flight on this sector with effect from 8 January 2011 (Istanbul-Singapore) and 9 January 2011(Singapore-Istanbul).  The introduction of this additional flight will further enhance Turkish Airlines’ position as a global carrier with connections to 68 cities in Europe and more than 160 cities worldwide.
