Two Northwest aircraft clip wings + pics

Two Northwest Airlines planes clipped wing tips on the ground at Minneapolis St.-Paul International Airport Sunday afternoon. No passengers or crewmembers were injured, Northwest says. One Airbus A330, arriving from Amsterdam, had just landed and was taxiing to the gate area when it got too close to another Airbus A330, which was parked at a neighboring gate.

"I wondered if we had a flat tire or just ran into something on the ground," says passenger Elin Schold Davis. "You could feel kind-of a crunch. And then the plane stopped." Northwest says 296 passengers were on the taxiing plane. No passengers were on the other plane, which was preparing to leave for Paris. Metropolitan Airports Commission spokesman Patrick Hogan says both planes had some damage to the wing tips.Northwest says the incident is under investigation."Northwest Airlines apologizes to our customers for the inconvenience," the company says in a statement
