France and the UK have signed a broad-ranging pact on defence matters, ranging from joint aircraft carrier operations to UAV developments and in-service support for the A400M.
Is this a good example of where European powers should be going in a time of financial crisis, or would Admiral Lord Nelson be spinning in his crypt? And will the move boost the international muscle of Anglo-French industry, or open the way for future power struggles between BAE and Dassault?
