Mr Dave Carroll owns a very expensive – up to £3,500 in price – guitar, a Taylor guitar infact, or maybe we should say he owned a very expensive guitar because on a United Airlines flight his guitar was broken. Understandably, Mr Carroll was annoyed so he got his own back!

To show his frustration at the airlines lack of co-operation, Mr Carroll made a song with his band – Sons of Maxwell – which he has since posted on You Tube under the name ‘United Breaks Guitars’. Since the song was posted on Monday it has racked well over 450,000 hits and has caused a stir amongst many United Airline passengers and Taylor Guitar owners.

On the message next to the video Mr Carroll writes after his 9 months of frustration and problems: “I promised the last person to finally say no to compensation … that I would write and produce three songs about my experience with United Airlines and make videos for each to be viewed online by anyone in the world.”

Throughout the song, Mr Carroll plays his broken guitar while airport staff throw baggage around, and bash it with a hammer!

The guitar was reportedly broken when the band was flying to Nebreska via O’Hare airport, and this verse explains what happened:

“When we landed in Nebraska, I confirmed what I suspected
My Taylor’d been the victim of a vicious act of malice at O’Hare,
So began a year-long saga of ‘pass the buck, don’t ask me,
and ‘I’m sorry sir, your claim can go nowhere.”

Meanwhile the chorus for the song goes as:

“United, United, you broke my Taylor guitar
United, United, some big help you are
You broke it, you should fix it
You’re liable, just admit it
I should have flown with someone else or gone by car
‘Cause United breaks guitars’.”

In response to the video, which is bound to get 1 million hits, the airline spokeswomen said to the Chicago Sun Times: "While we mutually agree this should have been fixed much sooner, Dave's excellent video provides us with something we can use for training purposes to ensure that all customers receive better service for us,"

To be honest though.. I don’t really get the point, he can’t sing and I’m glad United Airlines broke the guitar as it stops his awful music spreading.

If you wish to see the video.. go here, because as a work experience person.. I don't know how to embed the videos.. though if I can, I will!
