I'd be interested to know of the progress of US airlines towards the ICAO mandate for carriers to implement an SMS by 1st Jan 2009.

It seems Europe are away ahead of them on this one?

Does anyone have input from a US point of view?

Just a merrie thought re. ICAO. I may be out of my use-by date; but when, in PNG, one of my Delegations was the 'creating' and writing of 'Differences' to some ICAO stuff which we did not have a hope in hades of affording and implementing, I believe that that organisation can only 'Recommend' that States do various things. I wonder whether, in the nicest possible way, the word 'Mandate" is appropriate?

dakota67....the pedantic.
