"The aeroplane is carrying out a steep approach with partial or no power, and it makes it over the airfield boundary fence to land on the runway, but in its undershoot area – note the arrows on the runway centreline pointing forward to the runway threshold “piano keys” beyond which aircraft are supposed to touch down. The pilot clearly knows the nose gear is likely to collapse, holding the nose up until the elevators no longer have any effect as the speed reduces. When the aircraft finally scrapes to a halt it is on the threshold piano key markings."
