    I wouldn't get too excited about Farnborough - if 2006 was anything to go by, it'll be the biggest disappointment of the year once again.  I still can't believe I actually wasted money on getting a ticket for it.....

    Here's some predictions for the year ahead:

    • BA will retire their Airbus narrowbody fleet and replace them with an order for 100 Tu-154's;
    • Iraqi Airways will start direct services to LAX, JFK, ORD and IAD using B747SP's;
    • Ryanair will actually fly to a city that it advertises, instead of stranding its passengers hundreds of miles from anywhere;
    • BA will amend their decision to purchase Tu-154's and place an order for Tu-134's instead, just to annoy all of the 'tree-huggers' that refuse to vacate the fields around Heathrow;
    • the US Government will finally get a clue that people are sick of standing in customs queues for upwards of three weeks and will refuse entry into the United States to anybody who isn't Mexican.......

    Or I could be wrong.

    And one more from me:

    • BMI also decide to add the Tu-154 to their shorthaul fleet, strengthening their operating alliance with BA.

    And just to add fuel to the fire....

    Titch i like what you are saying. I am getting sick and tired of seeing these western aircraft operating everywhere these days! I would hope that BA would make sure that the TU-154s werent the Ms as they are just to good for the environment! Lets have some old Bs please!

    I have to admit that i really miss seeing the likes of the 134s, 154s, IL-76s, Il-62s, IL-18s flying around. It is just so boring seeing Aeroflot A321s flying about!

    On the subject of Iraqi Airways i remember seeing their Il-76s in LHR back in 1986 supposedly picking up piping and other parts for the oil industry! I wonder what they were picking up really!

    An ideal BA fleet for the end of 2008:

    50 TU-134s

    50 Tridents

    40 TU-154s

    60 Comets

    20 Coronados (I used to love seeing the Tampax Coronados although sadly i only have one photo that i took)

    50 1-11s

    14 Concordes

    20 Viscounts

    2 Belfasts (no reason to use them other than to fly around looking great in the sky)

    All painted up in the blue and grey BA scheme which was by far the best scheme they ever had.

    Re: What can we expect from 2008?

    The runes are telling me.....

    Airbus will re-employ all the engineers they have laid off recently as they quickly realise that whilst cost cutting is a necessary evil you need "people" to build them and stand any chance of hitting a first flight date or delivery schedule.

    Airports around the world will make record profits from selling off all the scissors, swiss army knives and nail clippers theyve been collecting in those transparent square bins.

    The world will be shocked to learn that most of the passenger aircraft flight's for the last few years have been pilotless, with an inflatable captain and with the in flight messages being relayed from the flight crew canteen on the ground. How else could they afford to sell flights so cheaply !

    I need stronger tablets.....
