What should be the main image on the cover of this year’s JP Airline-Fleets?

The 2009 edition of the world renowned JP Airline-Fleets book is currently in production and we are excited about offering you the opportunity to help decide the main image on the front cover.

The front cover of this book is a prestigious centre-piece which represents the best airliners still in production. Currently on Flightglobal we are running a poll with the following choices:

    • Airbus A380
    • Boeing 737-900
    • Boeing 747
    • Boeing 777F
    • Embraer 170/190
    • Tupolev Tu-154

We realise however that these choices are somewhat limiting so we are giving you the chance to offer your choices here. Simply reply to this message with your nomination and depending on its popularity we will consider adding it to the final shortlist. REMEMBER, the aircraft choice must be one that is still in production.

Alternatively, for the possibility of getting your image onto the front cover, why not add it to our JP Airline Fleet gallery from which we will pick some of the very best to feature.

For inspiration, why not look at some of the images that got into last year's book.

Re: What should be the main image on the cover of this year’s JP Airline-Fleets?

Dear Sirs: In my humble opinion I think neither of these airliners would be pictured on the next JP cover. I admit being a JP “purist” and so I think that the better JP covers where those of the 80,s and 90,s when there were only tails, noses or entire line-ups of aircrafts belonging to the same airline portrayed. The “psychological” impact of those unique covers when you received your long awaited JP on the mail was an experience that I sincerely miss. It was like you thought having purchased really the “Bible” of airline fleets with all those photos showing part of an airline fleet !! I know that it was in the last editions when JP was still produced by the “Swiss team” that this trend changed a little bit, but it has been pushed a little too much in the way that we see more often only a single tail of a certain airline pictured or tails/line-ups of different airlines and the now “single airliner” on the top main picture which to me has no point in an “Airline Feet List” book!. JP is not a book on current airliners produced, it is an Airline Fleet list book in which you can see old/classic airliners listed alongside newer ones. I see no point in Flight Global making a poll in which readers choose a “current produced airliner” to be pictured in its cover as its main subject!!. It is like a “perversion” of the books theme! So I think that you should revert to the old days, seeking more photos of line-ups and tails/noses of a same airline to be part of JP’s cover as this reflects what the book really is about. The cover’s main picture would also be a very good shot of a line up of aircraft tails belonging to a well known airline, giving that impact that made you feel JP was the only really “Bible” of civil aviation. Well said Marcelo. I agree with you totally on that. As a spotter myself and using the 'Bible' i have always liked the shots of line ups of aircraft. Going away from this is a very bad idea in my opinion as it is something that has always stood out with JP.

Another issue especially if the A380 wins is that it is already on the front cover of this years CAM. It wont look good if JP also have it on the front cover. Stick with the fleet shots i say!

    Dear Sirs:

Nice to see the front cover of JP 2009 displaying the "One Fleet Tails" photos!

If its content is as good as this year cover I will be glad to be among the costumers of JP 2009.

    Regards,
