 Okay so maybe these type of callsigns only exist in America (or maybe just Top Gun) but we have been trying to think of some cool (and some funny) callsigns, akin to Iceman or Maverick. Here are some of our favourites so far:

  • Snake
  • Voodoo
  • Donut
  • Hamster
  • The Grinder
  • Dr Death
  • Spooner
  • Saddlebags 
And my favourite so far The Polisher . Has anybody else got any?

I think household items are the way to go.

  • Tripod
  • Spanner
  • Domestos
  • Saucepan
  • Lampshade
  • Bongo
OK, admittedly not every house has a set of bongos in it but I think that one's too good to miss.

 Well obviously Chipmunker. But if i had to pick another it'd be either Conan or Big Pit.

Fortunately, common decency prohibits me from typing some of the callsigns that appear on an SBS-1 screen !! They are not, needless to say, the same as the one used verbally with ATC, but I do wonder if they are detected within a tower or radar station and what do NATS think about it???

Any one know???

Is there anybody out there?
