The Germanwings 'Bear-lin' scheme kicks ass:

    Bearlin

As for an all-time favourite, great scheme - great aircraft:

    Hemus1

Manchester just ain't the same anymore without these beauties.....

One of my favourites today is the Etihad scheme; it looks crisp, clean and love the pearlescent paint

I certainly love the cool and neat nordic design of the SAS livery. Suits the A340 quite nicely IMHO.

I know this is slightly different but i just have to mention it. By far the best moment in the history of Aircraft liveries so far was when Maggie (Thatcher) covered the tail of a BA model with her hankie and said "We fly the British flag, not these awful things!"! Like alot of us she was clearly not impressed with those stupid designs they brought in. With that one gesture she killed off those schemes.

My vote goes for Braniff International Airways and their multi color planes of the 70's.  Could Braniff have been one of the first (if not the first) to use multi color paint schemes?  Even if the designs may not be as artistic as some of today's designs, you could not mistake a Braniff, even if you couldn't tell it was Braniff, it most likely was. They also used a range of bright colors, or even stark dark ones, blacks and deep blues. In any case, they have had more variety in their livery that any other airline?

LOL agreed Mook that looks a little too psychadelic for me...Looking at the other images on the gallery it seems like they like the more extreme livery designs...take this beautiful lime coloured one for example:

It must be a big disappointment when you turn up for work and find somebody's painted your aircraft like this 320...Ick!

Anything colourful or different works the best for me, especially if one airline has multiple colour schemes. I love anything that has as little white as you can possibly see on an airplane, white is just so boring. I would love to have photographed all the BA Utopia tails but alas, a very boring old lady with too much to say helped kill those. Come on people, live a little and add a little colour to your life and that is coming from an old guy getting set to retire soon!

I also sorely miss the cheatline. If an airline insists on dulling up an airplane with white, at least break it up a little with a cheatline or even better, two or three of different colours. I admire any airline that introduces special colour schemes and one offs, gives a photographer like me something to live for and chase after and even for the scribblers, individual schemes have gotta make your life easier as well.

I guess by airline, my two favourites from the past were Western Pacific and Braniff, especially since the latter flew the greatest airplane of all time as well. I am so glad that for the most part my all-time favourite airplane saw it's best days back before boring became so common in airline liveries, long live the 727 and lotsa colour in you livery! Of today's airlines, NOK Air looks promising so maybe have to see what I can do about heading to somewhere I might see some fo their colourful airplanes.

Anyway, that is enough of a rant for now, have to get off the sopabox and see if I can capture one of my current favourites, the one daily Frontier here in Vancouver.

    Cheers Steve

My Favourite has to be Mayalsia airlines 747-4H6 'Hibiscus' or 777-2H6 'Freedom Of Space', I finally saw 'Hibiscus' at LHR a couple of months ago look really nice.

Yet to see 'Freedom' still another reason to go LHR.

The original East African Big Smile

    Here, here ...

here as well .. and here Cool ... for me it worked on all aircraft generations.

Some more of that fabulous VC10 here - livery makes it look as if it's going 600mph even when it's stood still with door openYes.

My favourite livery is the QANTAS livery - particularly the newer, bolder version launched for the arrival of the A380. The new Thai airways livery is also one of my favourites.

I preferred the older black and white Air Canada livery over the pale blue.
