Emirates recently sent a poll to their employees asking, what do you think of the 787 and would you fly in it?

Noise coming out of DXB is that Emirates will only consider 300+ seat minimum, Hence their wish for the A359. Tim Clarke has always pushed Boeing for something around the 777 range or greater. I guess the 789 would fill this gap but again it falls short on seat capacity

What's your thoughts

The A350-1000 will seat 314 -350 passengers. The 787-9 will, seat between 250–290 in three classes. To increase to the same number as the A350, the 787-9 might need a stretch, or a two class version, or some imagination, but I think it is possible for Boeing to match the A350-1000  seat by seat, range by range, fuel consumption by by fuel cunsomption and mtow by mtow.  Tim Clark problably has some says on those matters as well.

If the Emirates employees want to experience the B 787, jump on the next ANA flight. If they want to experience the A350 ???.

Looks like more pressure on Boeing to come up with a 777-300 successor

Cathay Pacific would be "very interested" if Boeing goes ahead with the development of a successor to its 777-300ER aircraft, said the airline's chief executive John Slosar.

Hong Kong's flag carrier has 24 of the aircraft in service with another 26 on order. The airline "likes" the aircraft, and a better variant would something it would seriously consider, he added on the sidelines of the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA) Assembly of Presidents in Seoul.

"When we take delivery of all of the 777-300ERs we have ordered, we will have 50 in total and that will make us the second largest operator of the aircraft. I think that clearly shows that we like the type, and that it is a good fit for the company," he said.

"We would be very interested if they decided to make it better. Boeing have reached out to all of the existing 777-300ER customers, and we have given them our input as well."

The airline has ordered 32 Airbus A350-900s to be delivered from 2016-2019, but Slosar said that it has the option to convert some of them to then -1000 variant that the EADS subsidiary has been touting as a competitor to the 777-300ER.

However, he added that Cathay is happy with what the -900 offers the carrier.

"It was an absolutely strategic decision to order the A350s and it will be a great fit for us. We took a look at both the A350 and the 787, and the delivery position of the aircraft was crucial to the decision. We like what it gives us in terms of range and performance," he said.
