The Palma de Mallorca-based carrier was formerly known as Flyant, the all-cargo subsidiary of Futura International Airways. Following Futura's demise in September 2008, Flyant was acquired by Barcelona-based logistics company, New Iberital SL, in January 2009 and rebranded. Operations were again suspended in October 2009, but had resumed in July this year. Saicus Air had recently been offering both cargo and passenger charters with one Boeing 737-300(F) and one passenger-configured, former Pronair, McDonnell Douglas MD-87. The company had also been planning to diversify into executive jet operations. There were reports that the company has been sold to Spanish oil company, Petromiralles, last month, but any such plans seem to have faltered and Saicus Air had ceased all operations by early December.
