The Belarusian carrier, which since 1996 had provided domestic schedules, regional charters and aerial work, as an off-shoot of flag-carrier Belavia, voluntarily ceased operations on 22 February 2011, due to suffering from unusually low winter load factors and increased costs. At the time of its demise, Gomelavia was operating a small fleet of Antonov An-24 turboprops and Mil Mi-2 helicopters.
